Created as a playmate for children, Marchessa spent the first decade or so of her life invited to tea parties, having her clothes changed many times a day, and being the only confidante of her little owner. But one day she opened her eyes to find that everyone had left. Without help, she couldn't change out of her night-dress, and one person tea parties (even if she invited the teddies) were not that fun at all.

Normally, dolls had to have their various parts replaced and cleaned once a year, but even after many years went by, no one came for her. She does her very best with some bandages she's seen her mistress use on teddies that were losing their stitches or hurting, but she can't hide the fact that she's slowly breaking down. Even her voice has stopped working, the only sound that comes out of her mouth is a whirring, metallic noise. But still she waits, because she's certain her owner will come back one day.

I'm not sure how she lost her eye, but more likely than not she fell and cracked the side of her face...
